February 1, 2011:

Perhaps the term “winemaker” is thus inadequate at best, narcissistic at worst. No great wines are “made.” They are, rather, a reflection of where they came from and how their “maker” was able to imprint his influence within them. Does a parent “make” his children? No, he “raises” them. So it is with wines of soul. The season gives what it gives with our caring help and we raise that to the highest degree our skill allows. This is my pursuit and my seasonal delight. Chris Figgins, President & Winemaking Director, Figgins Family Wine Estates
