When I taste our wines I mentally place myself in the precise block of vineyard from which the wine originated. Only then can I fully understand what is happening before me as perceived through my senses. The wine wasn’t born on the crush pad, it originated months earlier when the season began, and, in fact, even years before that, when planting, trellising, spacing, and varietal decisions were made. In this way, tasting our wine is like looking in a mirror. It is impossible to separate the act, from the sense, from the momentum of farming. I am immensely proud of the wines we farm. They are reflections of a tremendous amount of thought and vision, refracted through the lens of our team’s efforts and God’s season.
